PIACENZA HILLS FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCE
Piacenza and its province represent a genuine territory, characterized by a simple but tasty cuisine and renowned, appreciated wines.
The hills and the mountains still preserve their beautiful naturalistic aspects, castles , medieval burgs, monasteries and ancient abbeys. After admiring the Abbey of Chiaravalle della Colomba, founded in 1135 and still inhabited by the monks, with its beautiful square cloister with ogive arches and suggestive illustrated capitals, we will visit a producer of Pancetta and Coppa, two typical cured meats of the hills of Piacenza.
You will be told all the secrets of these products, visiting the production sites together with the artisans, the producers of these delicacies. The visit will end with tasting, a delicious experience for your palate!
After a walk through the medieval village of Castell’Arquato, one of the prettiest medieval villages in the countryside south of the Po river, tucked into beautiful folded hills, we will have a typical gourmand lunch in a family run trattoria or a local winery, to discover the aromas and flavours of the hills of Piacenza!
Last stop is the medieval hamlet of Vigoleno, set on the top of an impressive rock spur. Walking down its winding lanes and narrow streets, enveloped in a magic atmosphere, we will have the possibility of enjoying breathtaking views over the vine-clad hills of the surrounding area.
The visit will end with a special tasting of Vin Santo di Vigoleno… an incredible dessert wine closely bound to this land. Only for special gourmet taster!
