SATURDAY IN OLTRETORRENTE

PARMA SUMMER 2020

The layout of the Oltretorrente reflects the complexity of a city that has Roman origins, which experienced a moment of great development in the Middle Ages and a new expansion in the 16th century following the arrival of the Farnese family in Parma.

The neighborhood of Oltretorrente (on the other side of the river) took on its current appearance following the construction of places of piety and assistance in medieval times, the construction of large convents, places of worship, the formation of brotherhoods and their places of devotion, the construction of the Ducal Palace and the Ducal Park.

Discover the history of the Oltretorrente, one of the most evocative neighborhoods of Parma, through a series of monographic guided visits every Saturday afternoon at 3.30 pm.

From the small Church of Santa Croce to the construction and subsequent transformations of the Ducal Park, passing through the wonderful Churches of the Farnesian era in Parma.
