Borgotaro Porcini Mushroom Fair

The Borgotaro Porcini Mushroom Fair (Fiera del Fungo di Borgotaro) was founded in 1975 by an idea of the members of the Imbriani company. Born with the aim of bringing funds to society through volunteer work, it has turned into a fixed appointment for Porcini Mushroom lovers. The Festival is an important gastronomic and cultural appointment thanks to the many events it contains. “Typicality” is one of the key words of the Borgotaro Porcini Mushroom Fair, which for 42 years, while changing its shape and substance, has kept its basic values firm. The 2017 edition of the Borgotaro Porcino Mushroom Fair will take place on Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September, 2017. During the two weekends of the fair, the historic center of Borgo Val di Taro, between colorful views and noble palaces, hosts the typicality of its territory and many others, from Sicily to Trentino Alto Adige, for a roundup of taste that brings the best of local productions in the Italian regions to the fair. At the center of everything, as obvious, the main product of this land, the Porcino Mushroom of Borgotaro PGI, the only micete to have obtained the brand in Europe, protagonist of the central stands of the fair and constant presence in the menus of the many restaurants in the historic center and in the surroundings.

In this new 2017 edition of the Borgotaro Porcino Mushroom Fair, the most “social” area returns, namely the “Showcooking” space with many events every day, to talk about cooking and watch great chefs at work. Among this year’s guests, Giulia Brandi from Masterchef Italia and Roberto Valbuzzi from “La prova del cuoco”. New events in this space more and more engaging with the show “Gourmet sandwich and cocktails” curated by Luca Farinotti (Mentata 104 bistrot Parma) and a particular laboratory of mother dough in which the public can bring home a first “strain” and prepare lots of dough. Unmistakable spaces dedicated to “Street food”, declined in the true sense of the word with the closure of a part of Largo Roma that will turn into a tasting room among regional wines, craft beers and quality dishes. The music will be the background to all this broad program, always looking in the same direction of typicality, with groups of traveling music and not, from the pizzica (“The brigands”) to Piedmontese folk music and not only (with the “Enerbia”, “Quattrad” and “Contrada Lamierone”) to the performances of the flag-wavers of Fivizzano and of the Band Body of Forte dei Marmi.
