THE ANTIQUE PHARMACY SAN FILIPPO NERI AND THE JESUIT AREA IN THE HEART OF PARMA
In the heart of Parma, a stone’s throw from the crowded streets of the city center, there is a place still little known but of great charm, where time seems to stand still, the Antique Pharmacy San Filippo Neri. A galenic laboratory dating back to 1789 where, among the dark wooden shelves, the ancient tools, glassware and jars, you can retrace the development of assistance and pharmaceuticals from the 17th to the 20th century.
Artemilia proposes an evocative guided tour to discover the Antique Pharmacy San Filippo Neri, the Church of San Tiburzio and the Jesuit area in Parma.
The guided tour winds its way through the University Palace, the seat of the Ursuline Congregation, the Palazzo del Tribunale, built in the area of the ancient Collegio dei Nobili, known to contemporaries as “the king of all colleges”, and the most important historical buildings of Via Farini, to discover curiosities and anecdotes about historical characters and the families that once lived there.
To enrich the itinerary, the exhibition “PARMA the city of PERFUME”, temporarily set up inside the Antique Pharmacy San Filippo Neri, a journey to discover the protagonists of the perfume supply chain in Parma from 1816 to 2020, and the installation “Florilegium”, a flower sky fitted in the San Tiburzio church, the extraordinary installation of the wonderful British artist Rebecca Louise Law. The installation, curated by OTTN Projects and supported by Cosmoproject, is an integral part of the Pharmacopea project created by Chiesi Group, Davines Italia, Comfort Zone Skincare and Comfort Zone Italia. PharmacopeaParma project is a journey through the chemical-pharmaceutical identity of the city of Parma, to network key places teaming with local excellence, such as the Botanic Garden and the Antique Pharmacy San Filippo Neri, and reveal them through fresh eyes and previously unpublished interpretations.
The guided tour to the Antique Pharmacy San Filippo Neri and the Jesuit area in Parma, active throughout 2020, will be provided again starting from January 2021 on the occasion of Parma Italian Capital of Culture 2020 + 2021!
