FAI SPRING DAYS 2019 – XXVII EDITION

Guided tours on Saturday 23rd March and Sunday 24th March 2019

With this spirit of discovery and passion the FAI Spring Days are back, to bring Italians and foreigners to discover the heritage made of art, culture and history of our country once again.

Saturday 23rd and Sunday March 24th 2019, on the occasion of the FAI Spring Days XXVII edition, over a thousand places throughout Italy will open their doors for unusual visits. To these exceptional openings, which include all the regions, over 40,000 apprentice “Ciceroni” will collaborate accompanying visitors inside historic buildings open for the FAI Spring Days 2019, telling stories and secrets of monuments and symbolic places from all over Italy.

As always, the aim of the FAI Spring Days is to celebrate the artistic beauties, but also to contribute to the conservation and enhancement of the assets, through fundraising and registration to the Foundation, which will allow special entrance and priority access reserved to members. In each open sites visitors will be asked to give a free contribution to support the institutional activities of the FAI.

On the occasion of the FAI Spring Days XXVII edition, the qualified Tourist Guides of Artemilia will put their professionalism at disposal of the public by proposing two guided tours on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March 2019.

DISCOVER THE OLTRETORRENTE

The Oltretorrente has always been the most popular and typical district of the city of Parma. Township connected to the city by an ancient stone bridge, the Oltretorrente has welcomed hospitals, military camps, convents and inhabitants of different geographical origins since the early Middle Ages. The Oltretorrente is today the most bohemian place in the town, able to surprise for its kaleidoscopic spirit and for the artistic treasures that this area off the usual tourist itineraries contains.

The itinerary proposed by Artemilia on the occasion of the FAI Spring Days XXVII edition begins with the Ducal Park and winds through the heart of the Oltretorrente, passing through the Farnese Churches – Oratory of Santa Maria delle Grazie, SS. Annunziata, Church of Santa Maria del Quartiere – the Ospedale Vecchio, the Torri dei Paolotti and the small Church of Santa Croce, built as a pilgrimage station on the Via Francigena at the beginning of the 13th century. On Saturday March 23rd 2019, the guides of Artemilia are waiting for you to discover one of the most evocative neighborhoods of the city of Parma. An opportunity not to be missed to learn about history, curiosities and anecdotes of some of the most authentic and least known places in the town of Parma. We are waiting for you!

Meeting with the Local Tour Guide of Artemilia Guided Tours in Parma and Emilia Romagna in front of the entrance of the Ducal Park, in Via Farnese – Strada delle Fonderie (crossing with Ponte Verdi) at 3:20 am. Departure at  3:30 pm. The guided tour lasts about 2 hours. Fees: guided tour cost € 10.00; free for children under 18 years of age accompanied by an adult. There are no entrance fees to be paid. DISCOVER THE PILOTTA MONUMENTAL COMPLEX

Guided tour to discover the Farnese Theater and the  National Gallery. The austere and mighty walls of the Pilotta Monumental Complex do not let one foresee the magnificence of the interior. It is hard to imagine the grandeur of the rooms, the sumptuous splendor of the Theater and the neoclassical elegance of the Sala delle Colonne. It is impossible to imagine the beauty and variety of the works that are kept there, sculptures, paintings, rare and precious furnishings. On Sunday March 24th 2019, on the occasion of the FAI Spring Days XXVII edition, the entrance to the Monumental Complex of Pilotta will be free.
